The Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center (MI-YVPC), one of six CDC-funded Centers nationwide, seeks to prevent youth violence through a comprehensive, evidence-based approach focused on a defined community in Flint, Michigan. Youth Empowerment Solutions is one of six programs being implemented in the community. The MI-YVPC is a partnership among the health department, health systems, community organizations, law enforcement, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan School of Public Health. The MI-YVPC YES program is led by a community organization, Church Without Walls.
In 2013, YES participants met and talked with U.S. Congressman Dan Kildee about living in Flint and their ideas for a safer future. This conversation was captured in a video and can be viewed here:
